iBearArms coming to the Android!

All the requests for the porting of iBearArms to the Android have been fulfilled. The application is not yet in the Android store, but will be in the coming week as we are finishing up some final tweaks. Stay tuned for updates and I look forward to all your feedback.

iBearArms v1.03 is now available for download

After many hours spent researching, v1.03 of iBearArms is now available in the iTunes app store for download. I have changed the appearance of the app a bit by changing the top banner bar to black instead of the default blue that Apple supplies. The much anticipated release of all 50 states is also available in this release.

All the states have been completed for iBearArms and is currently in the hands of Apple for approval. Thank you to all for being patient as I completed the remainder of the states. This is just the beginning of iBearArms. Look for many more features to come to the app.

iBearArms listed in the Top 100 Paid Apps

That’s right, iBearArms has made the Top 100 Paid apps in the Reference category. Seems to be hovering around the last couple spots today, but nonetheless, it’s the top 100.

This is very exciting news, only about 2 months after the launch it seems to be gaining some ground in the app store.

Google Maps API intermittent

If you find yourself coming across a blue screen on the Government Offices/Maps section, it’s because your out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The Google Maps API seems to be failing to return the coordinates of the respective addresses. The next version will have this issue addressed. The solution is to use the MapKit framework instead of the Google API. This will allow for the input of longitute and latitude coordinates to ensure it returns the proper location.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this bug will be fixed in version 1.02 (releasing in the next few days).

iBearArms v1.01 is now in the app store

Version 1.01 has been released into the app store. If you have not done so, please download the update. It includes the addition of the following states:

Alabama
Alaska
Arkansas
Colorado
Connecticut
Utah

The next version will be submitted to Apple tomorrow for the next round of states. I hope everybody that downloaded iBearArms is finding it to be very useful. I understand not everybody has their state included in the app, but please be patient.

If you have purchased my app, please take the time to write a review. I’m open to all suggestions for future functionality. I do have some plans in store once all the states in included, but I also welcome any suggestions moving forward.

You read it right! iBeararms was released into the iTunes Application store yesterday! Just search under ‘References’ or search for iBeararms, CCW, CPL and it will come up. Write a review, let me know what you think.

I’m open to suggestions for future functionality. I have a few ideas in mind, but would like others opinions for individuals who purchase the application. I look forward to your responses.

Thanks to all that have helped get this into the app store! I have never been so excited about the launch of a product!

Round 2…3rd times a charm?

iBearArms was rejected a second time due to the following:

iBearArms cannot be posted because it is a feature-limited version. Free or “Lite” versions are acceptable, however the application must be a fully functional app and cannot reference features that are not implemented or up-sell to the full version.

Additionally your application, iBearArms, cannot be posted to the App Store at this time because it does not achieve the core functionality described in your marketing materials, or release notes. Applications must adhere to the iPhone Human Interface Guidelines as outlined in the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement section 3.3.5.

After selecting your state iBearArms loads a page with the states laws, at the bottom there is a “Home” button, selecting the button achieves no response. This review was conducted on iPhone 3G running iPhone OS 3.0.1.

All this is fine and dandy, but why didn’t they inform me of this upon my first rejection letter? I wonder what will come next.

Since the information for all states is not complete yet, I decided to launch the application with the six states I had mentioned previously. The home button issue was fixed by placing an alert box each time the user hits the home button. Hopefully this is my last experience receiving a rejection letter from Apple…….

Round 1: App Rejected

I received an email from Apple yesterday stating that my application had been rejected for the following reasons:

When the device is not connected to a network, iBearArms does not load its contents and stays blank. A screenshot of where this behavior can be found within your application is attached. This behavior might lead to user confusion. It would be appropriate to display either a notification or an alert stating that internet connectivity is required.

Problem: The reason the content was blank was because I had only submitted the application with six states completed. All the other states were inserted into the application, but the content behind them was left blank.
Solution: Added a pop up box that will inform the user that information is coming soon.

As for the network issue, a pop up box was also added to inform the user that a network has not been detected and to check their settings on the phone.

Submission to Apple!

iBearArms has been successfully submitted to Apple for review. From what I’ve heard, 96% of applications get approved within 14 days. My programmer has been experiencing quicker turnaround times from Apple, so I’m hoping by next Monday, August 17, I will have the good word from Apple.

The iPhone CCW/CPL application will be priced at $1.99. Although version 1.0 of the application will only contain the states listed below, future functionality and the remaining states will be added on a bi-weekly basis.

Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Texas
